Lasik Tunisia: what is laser eye surgery?
The 100% laser Lasik operation is a surgical treatment for myopia of the eyes. It is a laser eye operation that is intended to treat medium and low myopia. It is also recommended for the correction of hyperopia, presbyopia and astigmatism.
It is an extremely sophisticated, fully robotic, computer-assisted surgical procedure.
Lasik is a surgical procedure with several advantages over other surgical procedures (speed, efficiency). It is considered a revolutionary technique in the treatment of myopia, so much so that it has become the reference technique in the field of refractive surgery, which explains its popularity.

Laser eye surgery in Tunisia: what you need to know before you start
The first step is the pre-operative check-up, which will include a series of tests and X-rays. A consultation with the ophthalmic surgeon and anaesthetist should also be done a few days before the operation.
The surgeon will assess your tests and x-rays, ask you questions about your general health and discuss the risks, recovery time and cost of the operation.
How is laser eye surgery performed in Tunisia?
The operation at Lasik Tunisia lasts a few tens of seconds in total. It is done under local anaesthesia, in two stages:
- First, the corneal flap is cut with a femtosecond laser.
- In a second step, the deep layers are sculpted by laser. It is this gesture that allows the visual defect to be corrected.
The surgeon begins by disinfecting the eyelids. He then places a suction ring on the eye to immobilise the eyeball.
The femtosecond laser, guided entirely by computer, cuts the cornea and creates the corneal flap. The cut takes about 15 seconds. The suction ring is then removed.
Once the gas bubbles have been evacuated, the corneal flap is lifted to allow the excimer laser to work. This stage is totally secured by eye tracker systems which ensure perfect centering of the treatment. The flap is then put back in place and the eye is irrigated with serum. This helps to promote rapid healing.
The operation is virtually painless. Both eyes are operated on on the same day, which allows a very fast visual rehabilitation.
After the laser eye surgery in Tunisia
The after-effects of Lasik surgery are generally neither painful nor uncomfortable: some difficulty in opening the eyes, abundant tearing and a feeling of sand in the eyes are the most noticeable symptoms. But they rarely last more than 2 to 3 hours.
The improvement in vision is quite rapid (within 24 hours of the operation). The return to work can therefore be done after 1 to 2 days.
From the day after the operation, driving and working on the computer are allowed.
It is imperative to protect yourself from the sun and to avoid swimming in the sea or pool during the first 3 to 4 weeks.
A check-up with the ophthalmologist must be done the day after the operation.
