Anatomical breast prostheses

Anatomical prostheses have a more natural appearance and are suitable for thin patients (no thick tissue or few mammary glands), as well as in cases of breast reconstruction.

Round breast implants

The round breast implants give a plunging neckline effect and a bulging appearance at the top of the breasts. Recommended for women who require a very generous breast.

Breast augmentation in Tunisia: what you need to know before you start

The first step before the insertion of breast implants is the pre-operative check-up. The surgeon asks you questions about your general health. He or she will also perform a breast morphology examination and discuss your expectations with you in order to advise you on the type of breast prosthesis to choose.  The choice of prostheses is based on the breast base and the profile of the implant. A fitting with a suitable bra can be done. The surgeon must also inform you of the risks, recovery time and cost of breast surgery in Tunisia.

*Disclaimer: results may vary from one person to another depending on the morphology of the patients.

How is the installation of breast implants in Tunisia?

Breast augmentation surgery in Tunisia by prosthesis is done under general anesthesia. It lasts between 1 hour and 2h30 and requires an overnight stay in the hospital.

The installation of breast implants can be done by three possible ways:

*Areolar route, with incision in the lower segment of the circumference of the areola, or horizontal opening bypassing the nipple (1 and 2)
*Axillary path, with incision under the arm, in the armpit (3)
*Submammary path, with an incision in the groove under the breast (4)

The placement of breast implants in Tunisia is done through incisions. The implants are then introduced into the compartments made. Two positions are possible:

*Pre-muscular: behind the mammary gland, in front of the pectoral muscles.
*Retromuscular: behind the pectoral muscles, directly against the

Complementary gestures to the breast implant procedure

  • *In case of associated breast ptosis (drooping breasts, low areolas), it may be desirable to reduce the skin envelope of the breast to make it rise (“mastopexy”). This skin resection will then result in larger scars (around the areola ± vertical ± horizontal in the submammary fold).
*A small drain can be put in place depending on the surgeon’s habits and local conditions. It is intended to evacuate blood that could accumulate around the prostheses. At the end of the breast surgery in Tunisia, a “shaping” bandage is made with an elastic bandage.
  • The care needed after a breast augmentation in Tunisia

Like any other cosmetic surgery, breast augmentation in Tunisia is not without risks. Our cosmetic surgeons are careful to inform patients wishing to increase the volume of their breasts by implants of the possible complications and the necessary care.

In order to obtain optimal results from breast augmentation with implants, certain postoperative care must be respected.

After your surgery, you will need to stay in the clinic for two nights. You will have a gauze dressing covering your incision and an elastic bandage. This bandage will be worn for a few days and then you will wear a surgical bra.

You may have a drain in place when you leave the clinic. This is a plastic drain that is inserted into your chest to drain the fluid from your surgery. You will get a prescription for painkillers and antibiotics.

The incision created in the natural folds of your breast requires stitches that you will not see. The sutures dissolve on their own and do not need to be removed. They may cause a numbing or tingling sensation, a strong feeling of tension and may be painful. If you have pain, take your pain medication.

For the first 48 hours following breast augmentation surgery in Tunisia:

You may have a slight fever. Your temperature may reach 38.3°C.

The skin around your breast may turn pink or red.

These are not signs of infection. These are signs that your body is adjusting to the implant. Call your doctor if the redness or fever does not improve 48 hours after your surgery or if your temperature is over 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Edema (swelling) and bruising usually occur. It is common to feel some discomfort when you lift your arms, but this only lasts for the first few days.

Do not shower or get your bandage wet for 48 hours after the procedure.

Avoid baths and swimming pools for at least 6 weeks after your surgery.

Wear a soft bra for 6 weeks after surgery, even when sleeping, and do not wear an underwire bra.

You can resume most activities right after your surgery, but here are some things you should avoid:

Any physical exertion for five to 10 days.

Heavy exercise such as running, jogging or lifting weights.

Do not lift anything heavy for four to six weeks.

You should wait one to two months to resume sports activities.

  • If you are interested in a breast augmentation in Tunisia, it is obvious that you have many questions. You may ask how long do breast implants last? What happens to breast implants as they age? How often do they need to be replaced? These questions are very common, but it is up to your plastic surgeon to explain them clearly before you decide to undergo breast augmentation in Tunisia.

If you search the Internet for information on the life span of an implant, the answers vary, and it is true. Contrary to popular belief, there is no firm answer. In fact, the longevity of breast implants has improved due to technology and the different techniques used by practitioners. There are many factors that affect the durability and effectiveness of breast implants.

The type of implants you choose, the lifestyle you lead, your body’s response to having implants, the expertise of your surgeon – all of these aspects add up and determine how long your implants will last. During the first ten years, the rate of breast implant rupture is minimal, but the rate increases after that time. This is why you should have a daily check-up and have an ultrasound or mammogram if there are any signs or abnormalities.

  • Anesthesia: during the mandatory pre-operative consultation, the anesthesiologist will inform the patient of the risks of anesthesia. It is important to know that anesthesia, whatever it is, induces reactions in the body that are sometimes unpredictable and more or less easy to control.
However, by having recourse to a competent anesthesiologist – resuscitator, practicing in a real surgical context, the risks incurred have become statistically very low. It is important to keep in mind that techniques, anesthetic products and monitoring methods have made great progress in the last thirty years, offering optimal safety, especially when the breast surgery is performed outside the emergency and in a healthy person.
By choosing a qualified and competent plastic surgeon, trained in this type of operation, you limit these risks as much as possible, without however eliminating them completely.
In practice, a breast enlargement operation in Tunisia performed according to the rules is carried out without any problem, the postoperative period is simple and patients are fully satisfied with their result. However, sometimes, complications can occur during a breast augmentation in Tunisia, some inherent to the surgical procedure and others specifically related to implants
Complications inherent to the breast surgery procedure: effusions or infections / skin necrosis / healing anomalies / altered sensitivity / galactorrhea or milk effusions
Risks specifically related to implants: Formation of “folds” or “wave” appearance / rupture / malposition or displacement / rotation / chest wall deformation.
