Lipofilling augmentation of the labia majora is usually performed under local anesthesia, but it can also be performed under potentiated local anesthesia or general anesthesia. The procedure takes 30 to 45 minutes and does not require hospitalization.
The surgeon begins by making mini incisions in the areas where fat is to be removed. A micro-cannula is then introduced into these incisions in order to aspirate the fat cells intended for reinjection. These cells are then centrifuged to isolate the fat from the other components. Once the fat has been purified, it is recovered and injected into the genitalia using specific micro-cannulas.
The incisions are then closed with absorbable thread. A compression bandage is placed on the vulva to protect it and promote healing. Another dressing is placed over the donor area.
