A gynecomastia surgery can last between 20 minutes (pure gynecomastia) and 1 hour (mixed gynecomastia). The length of hospitalization varies according to the technique used, but the patient generally goes home the same day. The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia.
The surgeon begins by making small incisions through which a micro-cannula is introduced to suck out the fat to be removed.
If the gland is to be removed, he makes an areolar incision (in a quarter or half circle). He then proceeds to the sutures which are made with absorbable sutures. Finally, a bandage is placed on the breast to protect it.
